Bose Revolve 360-degree speaker review – flawless quality in every direction

We already know Bose make great speakers. And even now with the shape of speakers changing, Bose has once again hit it out of the park with its latest audio technology aboard the SoundLink Revolve.

The cylindrical speaker has a sleek brushed aluminium design and offers 360-degree sound.

It is 15.2cm tall and 8.2cm deep while the larger SoundLink Revolve+ is 18.4cm tall and 10cm deep.

The advantage of the cylindrical shape is there is no real front or back to the product.

So, no matter where the Bose Revolve is positioned, you’ll hear great sound in all directions.

And Bose didn’t just change the design on the outside, it also changed everything on the inside as well.

To achieve seamless 360-degree sound, Bose has combined dual opposing passive radiators and placed the transducer face down beside a patented acoustic deflector.

And you won’t hear any distortion thanks to a pressure trap inside.

The sound quality is remarkable and even in all directions.  Anywhere you sit in the same room as the Bose Revolve is a sweet spot.

The trademark clarity along with authoritative bass is there for all to hear.  But what’s even more impressive is that it sounds that good from any angle.

We placed the speaker on a turntable and rotated it while it was playing music.

The music stayed smooth and consistent even as it was spinning with absolutely no dropouts in tone or volume.

You will find the speaker’s control on the top panel of the device to navigate your music and your connections.

On the base is a tripod thread to make it easier to position the Bose Revolve as well as a charging terminal so the speaker can rest on a charging plate (sold separately) and be fully powered whenever you need it.

The larger Revolve+ speaker is also equipped with a carry handle to make it easier to carry it anywhere.

And that can include beside the pool as the speaker has IPX4 rating so we can handle a splash, the rain and any other water spills.

But you can’t submerge the speaker in water – is just not built to do that.

The Bose Revolve also includes a microphone so you can use it to answer calls as well as talk to Siri and Google Assistant.

A feature that we liked is achieved by using the Bose Connect app and syncing multiple SoundLink speakers.

boserevolvereview4

We particularly enjoyed stereo mode we can set the speakers up as a left and right pair.

You can also use party mode so both speakers can play the same music at the same time.

Another strength of the Bose Revolve is the battery life. For our review of the larger Revolve+ we got a massive 16 hours of playback. Even the smaller Revolve can manage 12 hours of playtime before it needs a recharge.

Bose Revolve – $299 (available in silver or black)

Bose Revolve+ – $439 (available in silver or black)

VERDICT

Bose has created a remarkable speaker with Revolve that provides true 360-degree sound that is flawless in any direction and sure to be the life of your party.
