Disney+ today activated the ESPN hub on the platform in Australia and New Zealand with more than 10,000 hours of live sport at your fingertips through the streaming service.
Today ESPN becomes the latest tile subscribers will find on the platform’s home page alongside Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star.
The new ESPN hub on Disney+ includes two live ESPN channels so viewers can enjoy favourites like SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA today and First Take.
There are also live events, on demand replays and iconic programmes including ESPN’s award-winning catalogue of 30 for 30 films.
The timing of this addition is perfect with NBA playoffs just around the corner and subscribers can watch live NBA doubleheaders featuring the game’s biggest stars including Stephen Curry and LeBron James.
A new season of Major League Baseball also opens in the US this week with the New York Yankees taking on the Milwaukee Brewers before the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers return to Dodger Stadium to defend their title.
“We’re thrilled ESPN on Disney+ is now streaming for all subscribers in Australia and New Zealand. It’s the new home ground for sports entertainment,” says Kylie Watson-Wheeler, The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand Senior Vice President and Managing Director, and Head of ESPN Asia-Pacific.
“ESPN is the seventh addition to our Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star content hubs.
“Adrenaline-pumping sports are the perfect match up with our must-stream shows, like Daredevil: Born Again and High Potential, all on platform together like only Disney+ can do.”
Later this year in September ESPN will celebrate its 30th anniversary in Australia.
In addition to its availability on Disney+, ESPN will still be available via Foxtel, Kayo Sport, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
