EcoFlow produces a range of portable power solutions of all shapes and sizes and designed for different use cases.
They can be used when we go camping, working in remote areas, outside where there is no nearby access to power and as a power back-up, also referred to as UPS (uninterruptible power source).
The new EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus is one of the smaller portable power solutions – it is 30 per cent smaller than the industry average – and has a 286Wh capacity and up to 600W output. It weighs in at 4.7kg.
On the front is a DC outlet, an AC outlet, two USB-A ports and a USB-C port.
On the back are two AC outlets, and AC input port, solar/car input port and a USB-B UPS communication port.
It has a sturdy construction with a fire-retardant shell that can handle a 1m drop. It also has an IP54 rating which makes it water and dust resistant.
The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus can be used anywhere to power and charge your devices on the move as well as power your fridge during a blackout.
Because of its smaller size, the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus can also be used as a desktop power back up.
Why is this important?
There are many users who need 24/7 access to data, backups and connectivity.
In the event of a blackout the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus can keep your wi-fi router for up to 35 hours, a NAS (network attached storage) Server for up to 5.2 hours, a desktop computer for up to 21 minutes. And the fridge for up to 31 minutes.
Users can also expand the capacity with the EcoFlow River Pro Extra Battery to 572Wh and 858Wh to offers even longer non-stop power – up to 70 hours for the wi-fi router, up to 15.6 hours for the NAS Server, up to one hour for a desktop computer and 1.6 hours for the fridge.
These extra batteries connect to the bottom of the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus.
There is also UPS management software which can monitor the power status and provide outage time logs and notifications when the RIVER 3 plus is running low on power.
EcoFlow also has an app which can check the battery health, offer low battery alerts and help users adjust charging speeds.
Users keep the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus plugged in and the pass through is what powers their essential items.
If there is a blackout, there is an instant switchover (less than 10ms) to the 600W output from the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus internal battery.
The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus has a LiFePO4 battery which will run for more than 10 years at full capacity. After 10 years it will still work but at up to 80 per cent capacity.
This device differs from similar products which short-life lead-acid batteries.
The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus comes with a five-year warranty.
And when it’s time to charge again, the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus can reach 100 per cent with AC charging in just an hour.
Users can also recharge the unit via a solar panel which can be as fast as 1.5 hours depending on the number of solar panels you use.
It can also be charged in your car – this would take up to 3.3 hours before it reaches 100 per cent capacity.
The unit also has an advanced algorithm with more than 40 safety features to protect from risk from current, voltage, temperature and circuits.
