Dyson has launched its first wet and dry robot vacuum – the Spot+Scrub Ai – which is designed to detect and react to the cleaning task at hand while also avoiding obstacles.
The robot has an advanced AI stain detection system and uses AI vision and laser illumination to identify almost 200 types of household substances and objects until the floor is spotless.
The Dyson robot also uses AI for smarter navigation.
Also on board is a self-cleaning wet roller with a 12-point hydration system to ensure fresh heated water is used to lift and remove stubborn stains.
And on every rotation, the roller cleans itself to ensure your floor is only cleaned with fresh water.
“Dyson engineers have been developing robotic cleaners since the 1990s,” says company founder James Dyson.
“We revealed the first DC06 in 2001 and have continued to develop vision technology since then.
“Now we have engineered a robot that intelligently detects, identifies, and cleans stains, spills and debris, identifying stubborn stains and going over and over them until they are gone, using advanced AI.
“It is a determined, intelligent, and adaptable machine.
“The wet roller even cleans itself with fresh water as it rotates, ensuring your floors remain spotless.
“It vacuums carpets, washes hard floors and cleans itself hygienically – with the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum, dirt now has nowhere to hide.”
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai Has a three-step cleaning approach.
It firstly detects invisible stains and dirt with the green laser illumination before an AI powered camera can react and adapt the level of clean required in real time before checking the floor again until the stain is removed.
Using the MyDyson app, it’s also possible to initiate a spot clean and send the robot to a specific location in your home.
The robot can also produce a clean map in the MyDyson app after each pass to show users where there were objects encountered and where most of the cleaning took place.
The Dyson unit uses LiDAR and AI vision to map your home an automatically labels rooms for easier zone cleaning through the MyDyson app.
It also has a dual laser system and adaptive software to easily identify and avoid any obstacles including socks and pet waste.
The self-cleaning microfiber wet roller applies fresh heated water as its cleaning.
The roller mechanism also extends 40mm to allow the Spot+Scrub Ai robot to clean right up to the skirting board to get to areas that often accumulate dirt.
It also has a bagless cyclonic dock which can hygienically empty dry debris.
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is on sale now and is priced at $1,999.
