Xiaomi has unveiled its new flagship smartphones that will be available for Australia customers – the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi 17 range have sleek and elegant designs with the 17 Ultra (6.9-inch OLED display) and the Leica Leitzphone are both just 8.29mm thick and tip the scales at 218.4g.
It has an all-flat body and super thin bezels which gives the display an edge to edge appearance.
The Xiaomi 17 (6.3-inch OLED display) is even thinner at 8.06mm and lighter at 191g. It has a redesigned camera system and has 1.18mm bezels.
And these new devices all have a solid Xiaomi Guardian Structure with an aluminium frame, an IP68 rating for protection against dust and moisture and Xiaomi Shield Glass.
Leica is marking its 100th anniversary and partnered with Xiaomi to bring its heritage and design philosophy to a modern mobile device.
The Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi has a durable double aluminium alloy body with a nickel anodised finish and a Leica-tuned interface.
It also features the Leica Camera Ring – a physical dial that makes it feel like a real zoom camera in your hand.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone include the first 1-inch LOFIC camera sensor and the Leica 200MP camera with a 75-100mm mechanical optical zoom.
The devices can also capture 4K 120fps video on both the main and telephoto cameras.
For selfies, there’s a new 50MP front camera with improved autofocus and both short and long distance and it supports 4K 60fps video with Dolby Vision and 4K 60fps log recording.
The Xiaomi 17 Series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile platform for outstanding performance.
The Xiaomi 17 Series displays are made from custom-built OLED panels with higher peak brightness up to 3,500nits and a variable 120Hz refresh rate.
On the battery side, the devices include the Xiaomi Surge Battery with 16 per cent silicone content for improved energy density and longevity.
The Xiaomi Ultra and the Leica Leitzphone have 6,000 mAh batteries that support 90W charging while the Xiaomi 17 has a 6,330 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging capability.
