Apple’s event in San Francisco kicks off in less than two days and there has been plenty of speculation about what will be unveiled. We take a look at the products and features you can expect to see.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook will take the stage at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 10am September 7 local time – that’s 3am Thursday Australian Eastern Standard time – and start his keynote with a bit of an update on how well the company is doing.
He will probably talk about iPhone sales, iPad and Mac sales and Apple Watch sales and then roll a video or two on how they’ve been used to empower people and make their lives easier.
Then it will be time to talk about products.
The most obvious product that we’ll see is the new iPhone.
IPHONE 7
There has been a lot already written about the iPhone 7 – including by Tech Guide.
It has been one of the most widely speculated and rumoured device from Apple to date.
So much so there’s not much about we don’t already know – no headphone jack, thinner design, faster processor, better camera, possibly waterproof and running iOS10.
As far as the design goes, judging by the many leaked images of the device, it won’t look much different to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
Case manufacturers are already sending out releases about their new ranges so word has definitely got out about the new iPhone’s dimensions.
Expect a launch date of either September 23 or September 30. Although it could even be as early as September 16.

APPLE WATCH 2
Apple won’t have an event JUST for the iPhone.
To be perfectly honest, it won’t be enough to satisfy the many fans of the brand, analysts and tech journalists.
What also seems likely to see the light of day is the latest version of the Apple Watch.
It’s already been two years since we were first introduced to the product which, in Apple time, is an eon.
But rumours are pointing to the fact that the changes for the Apple Watch will be on the inside – faster processor, bigger battery and possibly waterproof.
The design is likely to stay the same.
And Apple will also highlight watchOS 3 which we saw for the first time at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June.
PROBABLE
MACBOOK PRO
The MacBook Pro is well overdue for an upgrade but we don’t think Apple will mention it at this event.
When it is unveiled we’re expecting a thinner design, the latest Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C ports.
There could also be a Touch ID sensor, like what we have with the iPhone, built in to the trackpad.
But we won’t be seeing this till later in the year.
UNLIKELY
iOS 10
The new iOS 10 operating system for iPhone is not just limited to anyone who buys a new iPhone 7.
If you already own an iPhone – even if it’s two or three years old – you will be able to upgrade your phone to the latest version – iOS 10.
At the event Apple will highlight some new features – including the new messaging, enhanced notifications and Siri’s enhanced abilities – and will announce a date when it will be available.
We’re tipping it will be two days before the iPhone launches – either Sept 21 or Sept 28.
CERTAIN
macOS SIERRA
The Mac operating system – macOS Sierra – will also be showcased especially with how easily it can now interact with iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad.
And the ability to unlock your Mac just by having your Apple Watch nearby will also be showcased.
This update won’t be available until after the iPhone launch – late September/early October is what we’re estimating.

That’s what we think will be unveiled at the Apple event this week.
Apple is well-known for its secrecy when developing products but they’ve made the industry so big it has become hard for them to keep a secret.
