Garmin reveals new 2013 range of navigation devices

ggarminnuvi2557Garmin has revealed its new line-up of 2013 Nuvi personal navigation devices which have been designed to make it even easier for drivers to stay on track.

These new GPS devices have a number of new features including Real Directions, Active Lane Guidance, Voice Activated and more information at a glance.

There are eight models in the range starting at just $109 and going all the up to $349.

The Tune2Air adaptor can create a wireless bridge between your iPhone, iPad and iPod when it is connected to the 30-pin connector on the dock.

This is particularly handy for the many users who updated to the iPhone 5 or latest iPod with the smaller Lightning connector but were unable to physically connect to their docks which had the older 30-pin dock connector.

TomTom introduces GPS device just for motorcycle riders

tomtomrider2TomTom has introduced a new portable navigation device just for motorcyclists with the design and features based on feedback from the rider community.

The TomTom Rider has a 4.3-inch touchscreen and offers navigation based on the routes the motorcyclist wants to ride including fastest, most scenic and personalised routes.

By downloading the Tyre interactive software, bikers can search, create and edit their own routes on a PC and upload them to the TomTom Rider and also share them with other riders using the device’s Bluetooth connection.

Navman releases first-ever GPS device dedicated to truck drivers

mytruck2Well-known GPS manufacturer Navman has released the first-ever GPS device dedicated to truck drivers with specific guidance for larger vehicles.

My Truck will be a welcome product by the many drivers who criss-cross Australian cities and highways and offers routes suitable to larger B-Double trucks and even HAZMAT (hazardous materials) restricted vehicles.

Now, instead of spending hours researching lists of approved roads when planning their routes, truck drivers can now plot their journey in seconds.

Uniden releases in-car accident camera and vehicle recorders

unidengocam2Uniden has introduced new in-car cameras – the equivalent of a black box recorder for a plane – to protect drivers from accident disputes and fraudulent claims.

The Uniden iGO Cam 300 and iGO Cam 800 can be mounted on the inside of the car’s windscreen and record high definition video when they detect a sudden change of movement.

The devices can also detect and record incidents while the vehicle is parked in case your car is struck in a shopping centre car park.
