A new free iPhone app by popular wine brand Jacob’s Creek has been launched that can measure the number of standard drinks in a glass of wine
This follows the alarming news that 86 per cent of Australians don’t know what constitutes a standard drink.
The Wine Line is a world first app which uses augmented reality to accurately determine how many standard drinks are in any given glass of wine.

Shazam launches its music tagging app for Windows Phone 8

Shazam – the app that can recognise any song it hears in seconds – has been released for Windows Phone 8 devices for users to discover new music.
Shazam for Windows Phone 8 will include all of the features found on the iOS, Android and BlackBerry platforms.
These include unlimited tagging and the ability to see tagging activity near your location.

Spotify, the world’s most successful music streaming service, is celebrating its first birthday in Australia and listeners have already streamed more than 42.5 million hours of music.
If you put all of that music together and pressed play today it will continue for the next 4000 years.
All together we created more than 14 million Spotify playlists. These playlists were created with various themes in mind including love and romance (240,000), travel (230,000), exercising and sports (150,000), weddings (55,000) and 65,000 playlists to help get through the work day.

There’s any app for anything they say – including one that can help you choose a great piece of meat and cook it just right called Ask The Butcher.
The new iPhone app is like having your own butcher in your pocket and gives some tips on selecting the right cut of beef, veal, pork, lamb or chicken.
Ask The Butcher lives up to its name and even suggests question to ask your butcher about each cut including if it is grass or grain fed, the way you’d like it cut and how thick you’d like each cut.

If you’re looking for love it could be as close as a new social dating site called Canoodle.com which connects people based on their Facebook interests.
Canoodle uses a unique matching technique which looks at pages you like and the people you follow on Facebook and matches it against people with similar pursuits.
So rather than setting up a dating website from scratch, Canoodle lets Facebook do the heavy lifting by using people’s existing profiles.

Twitter has launched its new music service which is designed to give users an insight into the music that’s popular and trending on the social network.
Called #music – it can be accessed either through the Twitter #music iPhone app or at the music.twitter.com website.
With singers making up eight of the top 10 most popular users, music on Twitter is obviously a popular topic.

There’s a new app called Clipp that will allow users to pay for a bar or restaurant tab with their smartphone instead of leaving a credit card behind the counter.
Clipp, available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry and coming soon for Windows 8, provides a fast, easy and secure way for customers to track and pay for their bar tab or restaurant bill.
Venues that are signed up to the service will show up on the app when users try to check in using the Clipp app.
