Navman reduce prices on GPS devices and offer lifetime map updates

ezy100t1Navman has launched a Christmas special by reducing the prices on its latest GPS devices as well as providing free map updates for life.

Prices on the Navman EZY100T and the EZY200 have been reduced from $149 and $179 to $129 and $149 respectively.

New rules for in-car mobile phone usage explained

mobiledriveFrom today there are some new road rules regarding what you can and can’t do with your mobile phone in your car while you’re driving.

The new rules for NSW state you can still utilise the calling, GPS and audio functionality of your mobile devices but only if it’s held securely in a fixed mounting.

By fixed mounting they mean a windscreen or dashboard mounted stand that can hold your smartphone safely and securely.

TomTom releases navigation app for Android

It is available now at a special introductory price of $51.99 which includes free quarterly updates to ensure users have the latest maps on their device.

The TomTom app has been popular on the iPhone and features the same world-class mapping and features seen on the dedicated TomTom GPS devices.

Pure unveils new in-car digital radio

With 32 per cent of our radio listening done in the car, the Pure’s Highway 300Di brings all the benefits of digital radio into your car including clear audio along with pause and rewind.

The device includes a small interface box which needs to be professionally installed behind the dashboard while a small control unit offers complete control and a two line display to see information from the station you're tuned into.

TomTom issues GPS fix for leap year bug

tomtom820mainTomTom has issued a software update to fix an embarrassing glitch which caused the company’s GPS units worldwide to fail to pinpoint their location.

A software coding glitch triggered because of the extra day in February due to 2012 being a leap year is believed to be the cause of the problem.

Affected users reported a blank screen and an error message saying “looking for valid GPS signal”.

Kia partners with SUNA for live traffic GPS updates

kiasorentoKia Motors Australia has announced a partnership with Intelematics Australia to provide SUNA live traffic updates to in-car GPS in its range of vehicles.

This means Kia drivers can now check to see what traffic lies ahead on their route and will be a standard feature on Platinum grade Optima, Sorento and Sportage models.

Kia’s first satellite navigation systems with SUNA will also be available as an option on the SLi Sorento and Sportage.

Garmin promises lifetime GPS map updates

Garmin has announced a GPS first with the promise of free lifetime map updates for its Nuvi 2000 and 3000 ranges of devices. This means for the lifetime of the device there will be no need to pay for any map updates.

The Navteq maps included with the new Garmin GPS devices will always be up to date

Customers would be surprised how much maps can be changed and updated.
